1st Art Show! FAIL!

My very 1st art show!  Was it a failure? This month I had my very 1st art show. Oh I was so excited about this opportunity.   I did my research. I tried to find all the information I could about past art shows at this event.  I found old pictures to get an idea for setup.  I was told that I would only get one table so I had to maximize the space.   I arrived early, I wanted to get a prime spot in a corner.  I was the 1st one there.  After IContinue reading “1st Art Show! FAIL!”

I am a creative!

Hello my creative friends! That is a greeting from one of my favorite fluid artists that I follow on YouTube. Her name is Olga Sobey and she’s amazing. Check out her YouTube channel. I have been drawing all my life. I’ve been painting for the last 3 years and yet here I am still questioning whether or not I am a creative. A sorority sister comment about how creative I was. I denied it. I said ‘No I’m not very creative’ is what I actually said and she outright called me a liar! 😂Continue reading “I am a creative!”

Hey guys!I know we haven’t even celebrated Christmas and I’m sending you information for January’s free painting sessions. I just wanted to give you the heads up that Januarys sessions are open for sign ups. There will only be 3 sessions for January. Its time to start training for the spring runs and I have a training session to attend. You will notice that a couple of the paintings we have not tried in the past. Finger painting and figure painting, but we have discussed trying both in our previous sessions. Even the waterfallContinue reading “January’s Thursday night painting series”

World aids Day

December 1st is World Aids Day. A local group of university students scheduled a paint party for national aids day. They wanted a compilation of paintings representing living with aids, the sigma of aids and aids prevention.  With any custom painting my question is always what does that look like to you? I was given some possible images of families, group hugs, hand shaking and for prevention the classic cliché a condom. I am always up for a challenge but to make sure I was on the right track I talked to my artistContinue reading “World aids Day”

It’s breast cancer awareness month!

As you know it’s Breast Cancer awareness month. This Is a campaign that I am passionate about. My grandmother who raised me, who was essentially my mother, lost her battle with breast cancer in October of 2003. She had a masectomy about 13 years before she passed. In early 2003 it came back as metastatic breast cancer. By the time doctors figured out what it was, it had consumed her body. After her masectomy, it was important to her to participate in different research programs. This was her way of making a difference forContinue reading “It’s breast cancer awareness month!”

Is it too early for Fall and pumpkins?!

Oh I just love Fall. I love the colors that Fall brings. I’m not a big fan of the cold so Fall is perfect weather, especially as a runner🏃🏾‍♀️.  Orange is my favorite color. The Brown’s, the red’s, the green’s, the yellows, all those colors just bring joy to my heart and I can’t wait for you guys to see the beautiful designs that I have for you this fall.  Fall also brings some of my favorite memories. One of the fun things that me and my boys used to love to do wasContinue reading “Is it too early for Fall and pumpkins?!”

When I 1st started my journey as a fluid artist. I watched all of my favorite fluid artists over and over again. Trying every time to mimic their results.  As I continued to try to mimic their results, I eventually kinda developed my own style.  This mermaid painting is a combination of what I would say was a failure transformed into to a success. hence the title of this blog post. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may proveContinue reading “Transformed”

Imposter syndrome

I am an artist? I am an artist. I am an artist! Wow! Where did that come from? I’ve been drawing pretty much my whole life. Pencil, whether it be lead or color pencil has always been my weapon of choice. For all these years I have never considered myself an artist, until now! Which is just crazy.  With that being said, it always felt funny for me to say I am an artist? I am an artist. I am an artist! My coach calls it imposter syndrome. I listen to a lot ofContinue reading “Imposter syndrome”

Boating Beauty – June’s featured selection

This month’s featured Paint party selection is Boating Beauty. And when I say beauty I am definitely not referring to myself. So recently I took a boating trip on Patoka Lake in Indiana and this is definitely not how I looked after the trip. No this was not my 1st time on a boat, but I do have mixed feelings about it. When the boat wasn’t running the waters were calm and relaxing it was gorgeous. When the boat was moving my thoughts and actions were “get me off this boat!” Let’s just sayContinue reading “Boating Beauty – June’s featured selection”

Meet the artist

Hello. Welcome to my blog. So allow me to introduce myself. I am an artist. Some people may say self-taught but I’m gonna call it what it is, my gift. As an artist I am living in my purpose. Hence the title of my business A Purposeful Ponte. Lol. I have been drawing all of my life. In high school we experimented with different mediums paint, pastels, with pencil drawing being my comfort zone. I can’t remember all of the different mediums and techniques that we used but we did experiment quite a bit.Continue reading “Meet the artist”
